We begin by studying the work itself. A carved line or a painted face reveals years of practice. So genuine skill is always our first test.
Fair dealing matters
Next, we look at how a workshop treats its people. We want partners who pay fairly and work with dignity. Because our whole model rests on fairness, this step is non-negotiable.
Consistency builds trust
We also test whether a maker can repeat quality across an order. A single beautiful piece is not enough. Trust grows when the tenth item matches the first.
A relationship, not a transaction
Finally, we build a real relationship. We visit, we talk, and we plan together. Choosing our artisans is really about choosing long-term partners.
