My daughter moved to London for her PhD. I wanted to send her something for her new flat, something that would feel like home, but not so large that it would be difficult to ship.
The Mini Motu figurines were perfect. Small, colourful, unmistakably Indian, genuinely beautiful. I ordered two sets, one for her, one for myself because I couldn’t resist.
My daughter put them on her desk at the university library. Three of her batchmates asked where they were from. Two of them went to the Premloom website directly and ordered. The third asked me, through my daughter, if I could order for her and ship it because she didn’t know how to navigate an Indian shopping site.
I’ve since sent five sets as gifts to friends and family, two in London, one in Toronto, two in Delhi. Every single time, I get a WhatsApp photo of them in their new home within the week.
