Description
The camel is Rajasthan’s own animal, and the version that ends up carved and painted is always the festival camel, the one dressed for a wedding procession rather than a working day.
This piece is carved in wood and painted by hand. The body is white, the saddle blanket is worked in green and red, and the small mirrored dots across it are painted one at a time. The neck line and the set of the head are cut by eye, not to a template.
It suits a shelf, a study desk or an entrance console, and it pairs naturally with the elephant and peacock pieces from the same set of hands.
Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Keep out of direct sun so the colours stay true.
