Description
The elephant is the quietest kind of good wish. In Rajasthani homes it stands for prosperity and for the festive days worth remembering, which is why it turns up on shelves, on desks and beside doorways across the state.
This one is carved in wood and painted entirely by hand. The base is white, the motifs are red, and the fine dotting along the trunk and legs is laid down freehand, so no two pieces line up exactly. Held up next to another, the differences are the point.
It sits comfortably on a shelf, a study desk or a puja alcove, and it travels well as a gift when you want to give something made by a person rather than a machine.
Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Keep out of direct sun so the colours stay true.
